To date Benji has carried out over 70 new installations, and over 20 repairs or restaurations of existing systems, some of which are over 25 years old.

Training relevant to his role as a solar engineer includes:

  • Cabinet maker's journeyman ("Tischlergeselle") (1991)
  • NVQ Level 2 in Engineering Manufacture (1994)
  • City and Guilds Energy Awareness certificate (1997)
  • Honours degree in Engineering Design and Materials, University of Portsmouth (1999)
  • Retained Firefighter (2000-2007) - Health and Safety, especially working at height
  • Shine21 course at CAT (2004) - for solar thermal installers, similar to BPEC qualification
  • Gasokol in-house training (2006) - for Gasokol product familiarisation
  • HETAS awareness couse (2007) - for solid fuel installations
  • NICEIC Domestic Installers Scheme Qualification (2007) - for non-notifiable domestic electrical works
  • G3 installer's license (2008) - for un-vented cylinders

Benji is a Clear Skies accredited installer, having joined the scheme in 2005.
