  Maintenance

We maintain systems installed by us and other solar companies.

panel cleaning in progress

Maintenance should be carried out every 3 to 5 years, and usually involves the following checks:

  • Visual inspection of the system, including collectors and pipework
  • Check pre-charge pressure of the expansion vessel (if possible)
  • Measure anti-freeze capability of the solar fluid
  • Measure acidity of the solar fluid
  • Check solar fluid pressure
  • Verify controller and pump operation

If the solar fluid is does not provide sufficient freeze protection or is too acidic, then we will drain the system and re-fill it with new fluid. If the system only has one fill/drain point, then we will need to install a new fill & drain unit so that we can attach our filling machine.
