Repairs to existing systems, not installed by Sarum Solar

We try to repair and restore existing solar thermal systems, rather than sell you a new one by default.

Sadly we have come across a lot of systems installed during the last 5 years that are in need of repair. This often requires:

  • capping or valving any automatic air vents
  • replacing the expansion vessel
  • adding a fill/drain unit and flow setter
  • replacing the anti-freeze

We have also come across fairly young evacuated tube systems where more than 50% of tubes have failed (loss of vacuum), and no replacement tubes can be found. Solar systems that have been frequently topped with water using a filling loop may be beyond repair due to calcification and charring inside the collector manifold.

We have restored a number of older flat panel systems, some over two decades old. This usually involves the replacement of:

  • collector covers (if plastic)
  • controller
  • pump
  • expansion vessel (if system is pressurised)
  • anti-freeze

Prior to commencement of any work we will estimate the cost of the repair as accurately as possible. No fixed-price quotations can be given, and all work is charged by the hour.
